About

Alyssa Angelle Newsham, b. 1997, Creole from New Orleans, LA is a self taught artist and is based in Los Angeles, CA.

There are these moments when I’m walking outside, looking down at my toes, and I find a piece of junk that lightens my day and illuminates my senses. There’s a mystery to each of their stories which heightens my curiosity. The forgotten, neglected, and lost treasures that collect dust and debris are compacted with a chain of narratives that fall short of a story waiting to be resurrected and adored. Through my assemblage of found objects, my other forms of mediums are heavily, yet delicately textured such as metal, wood, and concrete. I also predominantly highlight corn, pistachio shells, acorn shells, and driftwood. The tales of each object coexist with vibrant colors and breed a sense of wonder. They ignite a soulful connection and bring unity through each of my mediums that resonate an emotion that inspires me to embrace my surroundings.
